Coach McElligott has been a teacher at Maine West for 6 years. During 5 of the 6 he has coached Girls Gymnastics and Softball. He is very excited to begin coaching diving this year and for many years to come. Coach McElligott has a background in gymnastics. He was a three year varsity gymnast at Glenbard North High School. He continued to develop his gymnastics ability by performing as an acrobat in Illinois State University’s Gamma Phi Circus. The circus provided him with opportunities to develop his coaching skills in tumbling and spotting. Although this will be his first experience coaching diving, his strong background in gymnastics will help make this transition smoothe. Coach McElligott grew up in Carol Stream, where he attended Glenbard North High School. He then received his associates degree from College of DuPage. He then finished his studies at Illinois State University where he received a degree in Special Education. He recently finished his Masters degree from Northern Illinois University, also is Special Education. He is now working on another Masters degree from Northeastern, in school counseling. Coach McElligott and his wife, Abbey, have recently had a son Connor (7 Months). They reside in Batavia, Illinois. In his free time he enjoys many different sports including golf and softball. He is a proud owner of season tickets for the Chicago Bears. |
