The Facts
about Summer Reading at
Maine West
•Every student
returning to Maine West for 08-09 must read at least one book from the summer reading list.
•Every freshman student will read the same book, so tell your brothers and
sisters, friends and
neighbors. The freshman book is Kids with Courage: True Stories about Young People Making a Difference by Barbara A. Lewis.
•All accelerated and AP English students will have additional summer reading as assigned by their future teachers.
•On Thursday, September 4, 2008 we will hold our fourth annual Summer Reading Event!, and students will, once again, meet with
their classmates across
grade levels to discuss their selected books.
•During the fall Summer Reading Event! there will be a variety of interesting activities, one for each book, created by
teachers from every department
in the school. These activities will be
interactive and cooperative.
