(1) ALL FRESHMAN STUDENTS (CLASS OF 2012) MUST READ KIDS WITH COURAGE: TRUE STORIES ABOUT YOUNG PEOPLE MAKING A DIFFERENCE by Barbara A. Lewis
Special Note: Kids with Courage is now available! Free Spirit press reports the book is in their warehouse, awaiting immediate shipment to Des Plaines area stores. Any previously placed order should be to your home or bookstore soon; obviously, you may want to check with your source for an exact arrival date. Copies of Kids with Courage are available at the Old Orchard Barnes & Noble. As of this writing, the store has 100 copies in stock. Additional information about the store -- location, etc. -- can be found on the web or by calling 847-676-2230. Also, you may order Kids with Courage directly from Free Spirit Press by calling 800-735-7323. Freshmen students will need to read Kids with Courage by Sept. 4, 2008.

Each book is listed twice, first identified by Lexile score and second by type (fiction or non-fiction). Lexile scores measure someone's ability to read -- the higher the number the better the reader. For additional information on Lexile scores visit the Lexile.com FAQs for families website. Fiction is, well, made-up, but non-fiction is "truthful."
