English I-Transitional

Course Description

This course is designed to develop essential skills in students whose reading comprehension is two or more years below grade level and/or whose writing skills are deficient. Its aims are to help students develop and master basic skills in literature, vocabulary, reading, writing, thinking, and speaking. The individualized approach, strengthened by special materials and laboratory developmental reading, operates on the premise that a high level of success and satisfaction is crucial for growth in students of both low ability and self-esteem. Students enrolled in English I-T will also enroll in English I-T Reading for an additional period of reading support. In this course, students will have learning experiences at their ability level in all five major goals of the District 207 English program.
