  • Fodor's Travel Guides ~ Online travel planning from one of the best travel publishers.
  • The Insider's Guide ~ An informative travel site that provides the text to dozens of their publications about U.S. cities and areas, arranged geographically. "Each guide is written by locals who love where they live."
  • The Lonely Planet ~ Excellent online travel guides from one of the best travel publishers. Includes a text-only version to bypass the images.

  • Rough Guides ~ "Rough Guides publishes books on hundreds of worldwide destinations, and we put that content online for our readers to access for free. Browse our destination coverage online, and check out information on everything from flights to food to accommodations and more."
  • Tourism Offices Worldwide Directory ~ Contact information (including Web links, when available) for over 1,000 "official government tourism offices, convention and visitors bureaus, chambers of commerce, and similar agencies which provide free, accurate, and unbiased travel information to the public. No travel agents, no tour operators, no hotels."
