Almanacs ~ An annual publication including calendars, weather forecasts, astronomical information, tide tables, and other related tabular information.

  • Alpha Dictionary Language Directory ~ A foreign language and translation dictionary for several hundred languages.
  • The American·British/British·American Dictionary for English Speaking People ~ Click on "Dictionary" on the left to search. This dictionary of American to British and British to American includes a comprehensive introduction with details on differences in spelling, pronunciation, and usage, as well as a brief history of the English language.
  • The American Heritage® Dictionary of the English Language ~ This is the online version of the fourth edition of this dictionary, originally published in 2000. From Bartleby.com
  • AskOxford.com ~ Includes a word of the day for vocabulary building, quotations, definitions of grammar and literary terms ("Jargon Buster"), guides to better writing and presentation, crossword puzzles and other word games, how English is used around the world, articles about learning other languages (primarily European), and a history of the Oxford English Dictionary (OED).
  • Double-Tongued Word Wrestler ~ This site "records words as they enter and leave the English language. Columbia Encyclopedia: Sixth Edition ~ This is the sixth edition, 2001, of this well-known one-volume desk encyclopedia. This online version is searchable as well as browsable. Contains brief entries with keywords hyperlinked to related entries. From Bartleby.com.

Gazetteer ~ A geographic index, usually used in conjunction with an atlas.

Columbia Gazetteer of North America 2000 ~ "With 50,000 entries, this most comprehensive encyclopedia of geographical places and features will prove invaluable to anyone for whom places hold fascination and who require accurate data about them. It covers every incorporated place and county in the United States, along with several thousand unincorporated places, special-purpose sites, and physical features, as well as Canada, Mexico and the Caribbean."

World Gazetteer ~ The World Gazetteer provides a comprehensive set of population data and related statistics.
