Search Biography Resource Center for brief and extensive biographies, articles, and web resources about people in American and world life, both past and present.~ Example search: enter Peter the Great > Click search > Choose a biography. The database will find alternative names for each monarch, i.e.: Peter the Great is also called Peter I, Czar of Russia

Search Britannica Online for reference information in literature, science, social science, and history.  Britannica Online also carries news stories from The New York Times. ~ Example search: enter "Philip II" > Click search > Choose an article > Be sure to check out the Table of Contents links and links to images on the left-hand column.
