Books

  • Print resources may be found by searching the Online Catalog for books.
  • In addition to South's collection, items may be borrowed from East and West.

DVDs and Videos

  • Search the Online Catalog for items located in South's collection and the DML (District Media Library).
  • Use the DVD/Video Request form to reserve items in the DML.

  • Search EBSCO Host including NoveList, Student Resource Center, and  Professional Resources for magazine, journal, and newspaper articles.
    • Click Teacher Resource Center
    • You will now be searching ERIC and the Professional Development Collection.
    • If you would like to know if a particular journal is available in the Professional Development Collection, click the Choose Databases Tab at the top of the page and click Title List under the Professional Development Collection.

  • Search FirstSearch is a collection of fifteen databases across all subject areas retrieving magazines, journals, and newspaper articles.  Illinois and national public library collections are also searchable via WorldCat. for articles, books, and other media in a collection of fifteen databases. To search each of the following databases within FirstSearch, select the database in the Jump to Advanced Search drop-down menu.
    • Article First: index of journal articles in business, humanities, social science, medicine, technology, and popular culture.
    • Ebooks: catalog of online electronic books available through libraries worldwide.
    • ECO: collection of scholarly journals.

Chicago Tribune Historical Archive~ News articles, front pages, and morgue clippings from the Chicago Tribune. Coverage for most items is 1900 – 1984.

Discovery United Streaming ~ Discovery Education Streaming (formerly United Streaming) -- A digital media library of audio and video clips, both brief and feature-length with teacher tools and tips. For new users, please obtain the passcode from the Technology department or Library Resource Center to start your own account and begin using Discovery Education Streaming.
