Literature of Chicago is a semester elective course that focuses on texts and authors associated with the city. An intensive examination of Chicago's literature along with its distinctive architecture, identifiable personalities and remarkable history provides a foundation for a more complete understanding of the city. Due to our proximity to Chicago, various research projects requiring primary sources complement the readings and writing assignments. This course will ultimately lead students to an understanding of Chicago as a center of civilization.
